As the #1 Ranked Resort in North America by the readers of Ski Magazine for five consecutive years, Deer Valley consistently puts significant money back into its winter operations.
After spending $7 million on renovations in 2011, Deer Valley’s Deer Crest property owners will benefit directly from an $8 million renovation in 2012.
The $8 million the resort anticipates to spend for the 2012/13 season and the $7 million spent in 2011 are a part of nearly $145 million invested in expansions and upgrades since 1990.
A bulk of the 2012 renovation money is going to go towards the replacement of the Deer Crest fixed-grip quad from St. Regis to the peak of Deer Valley’s Little Baldy Mountain. The lift will be replaced with the Mountaineer Express, a new high-speed detachable quad.
The new Mountaineer Express will have the capacity to transport 1,200 skiers per hour and create quicker access to Deer Crest’s popular groomed runs such as Jordanelle, Mountaineer and Deer Hollow.
Although Deer Crest owners will enjoy the new quad – St. Regis owners and guests may benefit the most from the Mountaineer Express as it is the main access point from the five-star resort to the rest of the mountain.
In addition to the lift, Deer Valley will also be continuing its commitment to expand snow-making capacity by purchasing higher-efficiency snow guns for the Empire Canyon area. Additional upgrades are also in the works for Snow Park Restaurant and the deck at Empire Canyon Lodge.
The bottom line is that if you purchase Deer Valley real estate you can be assured that each year (even in a down economy) the resort will invest in the skiers who helped rank it as the #1 ski resort in the country.
