Well that day might be closer than you think.
Deer Valley Resort and Park City officials announced this week that while the resort is not yet formally proposing a gondola connection to Main Street, preliminary discussions are well underway. How significant would this be for Old Town and Deer Valley real estate owners?
No other ski resort destination in the United States or North America boasts such a connection.
The gondola would afford Deer Valley residents and guests alike an unparalleled ski experience as well as world-class dining, shopping and entertainment all without the need to hop in a car. The same could be said for Old Town Park City real estate investors.
The earliest the new gondola might open would most likely be for the 2014/15 season. Decisions on both the top and bottom terminal would have to be hammered out between the resort and city officials.
Deer Valley President and General Manager Bob Wheaton suggested in a Park Record article this week that the lot adjacent to the Wasatch Brew Pub at the top of Main Street would be the resort’s first choice for the Main Street terminal. The resort is investigating the option to buy or lease either a part of or the entire lot.
As far as the Deer Valley terminal, a variety of different options are under consideration, including Deer Valley’s Silver Lake area, a location near the Northside Express Lift located on the Flag Staff Mountain Peak and Empire Pass.
Either way this new gondola would be a win-win for property owners, business owners and tourists alike.
